This process will dramatically eliminate unwanted fat (resistant to diet and exercise) and excess skin to create a sleeker, slimmer body contour. After a private consultation, our plastic surgeons can make suggestions about surgical excision and nonsurgical body contouring procedures (laser and ultrasonic fat removal, liposuction, and CoolSculpting®) based on your particular case. Although results and techniques used may vary, your personalized treatment plan can put you on the path to a firmer, leaner you.
Many patients seek a lower body lift for the following reasons:
As discussed during your treatment planning session, there will be multiple procedures completed at once during a lower body lift. Common procedures performed during a lower body lift are a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), panniculectomy, thigh lift, and butt lift. The surgical techniques will be discussed with you, along with the risks and what type of scarring will be left behind.
Our diligent plastic surgeons will take the necessary precautions to hide scarring made by the incisions within the natural folds and creases of your skin. We can also mask or remove scars with nonsurgical scar removal procedures or paramedical micropigmentation once the wounds are fully healed.
All of your lower body lift procedures will be performed at a local hospital or an accredited surgical center with a general anesthetic. Depending on the number of procedures performed as part of your lower body lift, the length of your operation can potentially last three to four hours or longer. You may be required to spend several nights in the hospital so that your progress can be monitored, as this is a very extensive procedure. Your post-operation nurse will also manage your level of pain and provide post-op incision care.
Once you are recovering at home, we ask that you rest for at least two weeks post-op and continue to take any medications you were prescribed. Swelling and bruising are normal body responses to this surgery, and it may take six months or more to fully recover. Delayed healing, bleeding, scarring, infection, and blood clotting in the legs are all risks that can be avoided with precaution and care.
You will need to make gentle movements starting on the day after your surgery to keep your blood circulating. Wear compression garments as recommended by your plastic surgeon, but especially wear the abdominal compression garment for the first 12 weeks. You may be able to resume strenuous activities in week eight or at the recommendation of your plastic surgeon.
