What Happens During the Procedure?
While labiaplasty can be performed by an OB/GYN or a plastic surgeon, it has become common for this abnormal skin deformity to be addressed by a plastic surgeon to minimize scarring and optimize overall contour and aesthetic appearance. Under local anesthesia (which can be combined with an oral sedative or a nerve block if deemed necessary), the excess skin will be removed, and the shape of the labia will be reduced and reshaped. A common technique is the “V” approach, which removes excess skin into a natural V-shape. Surgical tools are used to reshape the inner folds of the labia so they no longer protrude. Incisions are sutured closed.
It is important to find an experienced labia rejuvenation surgeon, such as Dr. Rozbeh Torabi and Dr. Radbeh Torabi, who understands that this procedure is designed to improve both appearance and function. A qualified plastic surgeon will not only address the appearance but also preserve the labia’s sensation, nerves, and sensitivity with minimal scarring. This surgery usually takes one to two hours in the operating room.
